Since October 2024, Cara Pesek has served as the interim chief communication officer for the University of Ãå±±ÂÖ¼éSystem. She acts as the spokesperson for the University, shares news releases with state and national media partners, and works with communications professionals across the NU campuses to share stories of impact.
In addition, she holds the role of communications director for the University of Nebraska—Lincoln’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In that role, she leads a team that works to highlight university programs across the teaching, research and Extension mission areas that support production agriculture, natural resources conservation, and rural prosperity throughout Nebraska.
Prior to joining IANR, she held communications positions with the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼éGame and Parks Commission and the University of Ãå±±ÂÖ¼éPress. She began her career as a newspaper reporter, holding positions at the Omaha World-Herald, the Lincoln Journal Star and the Grand Junction Free Press. Pesek is a native of Brainard, Nebraska, and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She lives in Lincoln with her family.
